I appreciate security’s quick response and dedication. I was able to give student ride and set up top cardiologist to see student, as well as take her back and forth.
We are not about numbers in people, compassion and concern are real in college as well as real life. Without these we become life-like robots, just going through the motions.
I hope as SCAD grows in Atlanta, we will be available to aid one another and still do well in a fast paced setting.

Short and to the point, but accurate. This is something the student’s need to hear. I’ve done a fair share of storyboards over a decade and it’s good to hear that I’m not the only one with the same business woes. Thanks for not fluffing it up Roy!

I think this article is inaccurate. You said in one paragraph, “While nobody said that Palin performed less ably…”. I for one know that I mentioned that in my essay, and in the class discussion, that was without a doubt the consensus. I think you’ve altered the truth to maintain a level of political neutrality, but I personally think it’s unfair to misrepresent the feelings of the student body.

I saw this movie and all I can say is that Cruise is one of the most boring and most predictable actors out there. He gets type cast in the same roles over and over. I was not impressed with the movie at all, nor in the direction of it. A powerful story indeed, but I felt like most of the other actors, including Kenneth Branaugh provided a much better performance than Cruise. Not worth spending the money on to go see in the theaters. Cruise, in my opinion, is sooo overated! Go see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button instead – that movie BLEW ME AWAY!

I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought Cruise is a HAM who just has a prolific, persistent, publicist. It always feels like his movies are being shoved down everyone’s throats. Early on in his career he had potential to become Oscar worthy but somehow stumbled into being stagnant. Since he seems to want to portray a hero-type character, let’s give him the title of “Humdrum Man!”

I was fortunate enough to attend the Kara Walker presentation. The key points of the lecture were very informative. As a result, I learned a lot more about the artist, her inspirations, and the subject matter. Not only is Walker’s work about racism, but also about feminism and the south. Her work reflected not only her personal experiences, but its similarity with antebellum slavery. Over all, very inspiring and informative presentation.

I was Very inspired after reading your comments about your internships. I am very happy for you and glad that you had such a wonderful learning experience. I am currently a junior in Fashion Design and Fashion Merchandise. I am aspiring to intern Summer 2010. Any advice? I am looking now because I want to be set. I would really love to intern with WhiteHouse Black Market. They appeal to me. I live in Texas but I am willing to travel where ever in order to gain whatever experience needed to have a successful future. In addition, I have a few questions for you: How long was your internship? If you were in a diff location than you live, did you stay in a hotel/ apartment? What impressed them the most about your portfolio? I apologize for so many questions but my college has not yet educated me at all on interships so I want to take the initiative. Thank you for taking the time read to this and respond promptly.

The advertising students have been talking about this quite a bit this week. In fact, on our department Facebook page, there is quite a controversy brewing about how the iPad might change the game for experiencing magazines and its embedded advertising.

Visit our blog to see some neat demonstrations on how the iPad works. Or, if you’re an ad major or minor, join the discussion on the Advertising Facebook page. (Just search for “SCAD Advertising” and look for the official department page.)

This is a must have album for any gorillaz fan or just a lover of unique music that makes you think as well as groove!!!!!

    GO BUY IT!!!

The Gorillaz did an amazing job with blending genres and ideas into this album. It flows quite smoothly and never looses interest. Damon’s music mixed with the art of Jamie is a superb combo.

Ms. Blaudeau makes some nice observations about Little Five. Most large cities have some eccentric art district where the special olympics of the weird and assorted gadflys reside. Art truly is everywhere in these places; however, an appreciation for that art is often hard to find.

Sounds like a good deal on the surface, but what’s underneath? My daughter had 17 missing teeth that required orthognathic surgery, bone grafting surgery, implant surgery to the tune of 60,000 dollars. When you are born without teeth, medical insurance says that’s a dental problem and dental insurance says that’s a medical problem. No one will cover things like that. Is Obama Care going to fix these medical/dental gaps?

It’s sad when a parent must decide between fixing her child’s teeth and college. There’s something wrong with that when you have insurance and no one will cover what you have.

While the Pell grant changes will eventually be funded, in order to comply with the new qualifications guidelines, the Department of Education was forced to revise their Pell grant calculations for the 2010-2011 school year- using the same amount of funding that they used in their January planning. This has resulted in extending new awards to students that would not have received them, but also lowering awards for students whose cost of attendance is less than $5,550. For next year, at least, most Pell students who attend community colleges will receive lower awards than the amounts planned a couple of months ago.

Ive always wondered why exactly SCAD such a huge institution does not host sororities or fraternities on its campuses. In fact I just finished my freshman year at SCAD Savannah, and compared to most of my friends at state universities all over the united states, SCAD Savannah was lacking in the social enviroment. Cliches of course were formed but I think our peak of full school participation took place at the Masquerade Ball this year.
I love that SCAD is so job oriented and career oriented but thats it. Most clubs, internships, field trips, campus activties, are all for specific majors (all career/goal oriented). It just lacks in the social enviroment from what Ive visited at other universities so far.

  119. Confused on July 18th, 2010 4:02 am

It kind of disturbs me that you use the BP oil spill as a platform to shame the government for responding to the massive devastation that has happened in Haiti. I think you could have used this article to call to arms that a lot of people can get on board with, yet you pull out the Fox News talking point of: “Yeah, yeah Haiti’s important and all, but what about US?” which I think will deter a lot of people since it’s kind of disgusting.

“Basically, the less than adequate responses from both the federal and state governments are synonymous with denying our AMERICAN citizens their basic constitutional rights! Whether the crisis is an outcome of BP’s carelessness or an act of God like Hurricane Katrina, the government has a responsibility to its citizens.” Huh? Boy, this is such a slippery-slope argument I’m not even sure where to begin.

“It is appalling that many of us are compelled to do nothing…” No one has ever told you to do nothing. Join a cleanup crew. Write to your congressman. There are plenty things that you can do. You don’t have to wait for celebrities to step in on TV to say that you can donate now. That’s just lazy.

  120. Brian Schindler on July 18th, 2010 8:13 am

The American Mainstream Media is largely to blame for the lack of criticism and public awareness concerning the FEDERAL government’s miserable and inept response to the BP oil spill. There has been no outrage or pressure coming from the major TV networks, newspapers, and news magazines, therefore, a vast majority of the public don’t think that the govt. response to this man-made disaster is shameful.

Agree or Disagree: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  121. Response on July 20th, 2010 10:22 am

The first comment is obviously made by someone who has lost site of the true responsibility of the American government to it’s people, and also the American public’s responsibility to itself. America is a beacon of humanitarian outreach and rightly so, but at the end of the day our responsibility is not to the Haitians, or any other foreign nation, but to ourselves, and our responses should reflect that.

Agree or Disagree: Thumb up 0 Thumb down 0

  122. Confused on July 20th, 2010 5:10 pm

In regards to 10:22, I am not defending the complete lack of effective action in the days following the oil spill. I never said anything of the like. Yet somehow you came to the conclusion I have lost “site” of the responsibility of our government.

If I can clarify, this article, which is an attack of the American government, is based off of our support for an extremely impoverished area. And I don’t think you should shame gracious support for densely populated regions that have turned into a wasteland.
