The Connector

Every year I watch my musician friends post social media pictures of themselves at Coachella. While I’m bummed out on the sidelines, I spend my time drooling over crocheted and boho-inspired get-ups on my laptop. It makes me want to get out and smell the wild air.

Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is an annual three day music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Musicians hit the stage representing genres like: rock, indie, hip-hop and electronic dance music. With people from all over attending Coachella, an eclectic melting pot of fashion is bound to appear across the green valley turf.

The thing about Coachella festival fashion is that it easily transcends into the next summer wardrobe and staple items wearers can recycle every year. This year H&M collaborated with the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival for a premiere collection inspired by festival-goers. All clothing is under $50 and you’ll find everything from crop-tops and fringed dresses to booties and wool hats. They even threw in a little something for the guys with screen print tees and sweatshorts.

For all my ballers on a budget, remember you can shop for your closet by remembering key fibers and silhouettes. Kimonos and ponchos are easy to layer over any outfit for those cold summer nights. Graphic tees are always fabulous when paired with ripped denim shorts and knee-high gladiators. A delicate and light cold-shoulder top creates a girly modern day gypsy look, especially with a touch of embroidery. Maxi dresses are always a favorite during the summer and pairing yours with a knitted hat and layered necklace can accessorize it up to festival fashion standards. Crochet, fringe, lace, patchwork and paisley are iconic textures to search for your wardrobe. Whether you’re prepping for the summer heat or your next festival, you’ll love these trends for seasons to come.
