Pixar animator Fran Kalal to visit SCADshow

Join us for a special behind the scenes animation presentation with animator Fran Kalal on Wednesday, April 22 at 8 p.m. at SCADshow. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

Fran Kalal is a cloth and simulation technical director at Pixar Animation Studios. Kalal first joined Pixar in July 2007, where she began working as a prop and sets shading artist for the short film, “Presto” and then moved on to work as a character shading artist for some of the background robots in the Academy Award®-winning feature “WALL•E.”

As a cloth and simulation technical artist, Kalal digitally tailors outfits for the film’s characters. She also works closely with the simulation supervisor to simulate a character’s clothing and hair in various shots throughout the film.

Learn how art and science are woven together to dress, groom and simulate the characters in some of your favorite Pixar films.
