By now you’re probably done watching “House of Cards” on Netflix and you’re waiting for “Daredevil” to come out next month. But in the meantime, Netflix has released a brand-new comedy, that resembles “30 Rock,” about a girl who’s a lot like Tina Fey. Just replace the premise of working at NBC with escaping a doomsday cult and replace Tina Fey with Ellie Kemper (“The Office”) and you have “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.”

From executive producers Tina Fey (“30 Rock”) and Robert Carlock (“30 Rock”) comes a show about a girl, named Kimmy Schmidt of course (Ellie Kemper), who’s rescued from an underground bunker in Indiana after 15 years with an apocalypse cult. After being interviewed on “The Today Show” in New York City, she decides to stay and start a new life. She finds a roommate, a gay and aspiring actor named Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess, “30 Rock”) and gets a job working as a nanny for a New York socialite named Jacqueline (Jane Krakowski, “30 Rock,” who is basically playing Jenna Maroney as a rich housewife).  And Kimmy is off to starting her new life!

Throughout the series, we follow Kimmy as she adjusts to being an adult in the Big Apple. Being that she was first kidnapped into the cult as a teenager, fifteen years ago, she has an innocent mind and is stuck in the ’90s as she tries to catch up to living in the 2010s as a 29-year-old with only an eighth grade education.

The show is a lot of fun. Some of the jokes are so funny and brilliant you might find yourself rewinding to watch them again. It’s clear that Kimmy Schmidt is a character Tina Fey would’ve played if she were young enough for the role, but Ellie Kemper does a fantastic job as the lovable and quirky Kimmy.
