On weekends and most public holidays the streets of Mong Kok are filled with crowds that gather to watch and patronize talented artists.

“Chinese Harp Soloist”

This harp soloist was captivating. She played from memory, without using any sheet music. The crowd would grow larger as she began another tune, then it would disperse at the end of the last cord. The crowd would often erupt with applause and cheers. Adults were moved by her talent and several small children were mesmerized. They sat hoisted on their parents shoulders alongside siblings and other family members. Passers-by dropped money in the black pouch that lay in front of her. Even though Mong Kok is an extremely dense and busy area, the harpist provided a very peaceful experience.
