Art Malloy, dean of student services, said that diversity at SCAD-Atlanta means several things. “SCAD is a community of artists, each of whom brings to campus a uniqueness that is worthy of celebration,” he said of the student population. Read more

Fashion Haus, SCAD-Atlanta’s student club for all fashion-interested students, will be hosting their annual runway show on Saturday, Feb. 28 in the 4C space. The show, which is entirely student-run, will feature the designs of approximately 30-40 student designers. Read more

Contest to redesign MySCAD open to students

This spring, MySCAD will be revamped with new designs from each department. Students are encouraged to design a new look for MySCAD and can submit up to three school designs for a chance to win. The dean of each school will select the winner to represent their school look. Interested students can view contest description and rules online. The contest is open now through Wednesday, March 4. Each winner will receive a free iPod Shuffle, courtesy of the IMT department.

Students, faculty to face off on basketball court

The second annual SCAD-Atlanta faculty/staff versus students basketball game will be at Spring House Friday, Feb. 27, from noon – 2 p.m. Students are invited to come out and shoot a few hoops, or just come and be a spectator or cheerleader. Those interested in playing need to sign up, and can do so in the fitness center on the first floor, or by e-mailing Kendall Reid at atlfitness@scad.edu.

Author to lecture at Ivy Hall this Sunday

Savannah author Elizabeth Hartley Winthrop will be speaking at Ivy Hall Sunday, March 1 at 3 p.m. as part of the ongoing Writers Series program. Born and raised in New York City, Winthrop is the author of three novels and will be discussing her latest, titled “December.” A book signing will follow the lecture, which is free and open to the public.
