Exploring SCAD-Atlanta’s lack of health care clinic
Most colleges and universities have health facilities that are easily accessible on campus and provide free examinations and basic care. At SCAD-Atlanta, however, we are missing such a facility, and are in
need of one. SCAD-Savannah has one such facility and provides cheap, immediate health care that is
convenient for students. Read more
Smoke-free is the way to be
May 19, 2008
By Katie Potter
I am going to fight with the smoking advocates for a second here. I want everyone to realize something really important about quitting smoking. It’s totally possible. There is so much information out there about how terribly addictive smoking is and how many people aren’t actually able to quit. While this might be true, I am worried that people might understand it to mean that they are totally screwed when it comes to smoking. The thing is, you can use that information as a resource to help yourself understand the challenge of quitting smoking. But it should not actually change your ideas about quitting smoking. Read more
Calling all Martians, anyone there?

Imagine a world where you are the only perfectly sane person to walk the planet. Sounds like a joke, right? This is no joke. Imagine a world where every single person including your own relatives speak only Romanian and you only speak Spanish. Imagine a place where everyone’s going right but you know the proper way to go is left! Up is down, black is white, and every single science-fiction theory says you are an anomaly in the very fabric of reality. This is what it’s like to live with a mental illness. Read more

SCAD-Atlanta alumna scores job at Vanity Fair
May 19, 2008
SCAD-Atlanta alumna Feifei Sun was recently named editorial assistant at Vanity Fair Magazine. She graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in advertising design in 2008 and served as editor-in-chief of District, the SCAD-Savannah student newspaper, from 2006-07. Under her leadership, District won numerous awards, including top honors from the Associated Collegiate Press, the Society for Collegiate
Journalists and the Southern Regional Press Institute. Jessica Clary, adviser to District, said Sun constantly looked for ways to improve the paper. “She challenged herself and her staff to improve all aspects of the content: design, layout, photography – everything,” Clary said. Reflecting on her time at SCAD, Sun said her experience with the college’s Student Media Center — of which District is one component — contributed to her professional success. “I can say without a doubt that I wouldn’t have my job at Vanity Fair had I not joined student media,” she said. “I cannot stress enough that student media gave me real, everyday experience writing, editing and working with others.”
